Sara Appleby Tries to Be Cool Sometimes

I’m going out in the city tomorrow night.

Which first of all sucks because I have to work until 10:15PM and I tried so hard to get rid of the shift and no one would take it.  So I won’t even be downtown until like 11:00PM.

Anyway, I have no idea what to wear.  

I don’t know why I’m overthinking it so much this time.

What if he’s not actually a douchebag and is just kind of dumb?

So date guy completely blew me off the other night.

He was just a dick about it. It’s fine if we make plans and you can’t make it, but at least have the decency to tell me. I had to be to work at 7:30 yesterday morning, and I sat around waiting for him half the night.

Then he apologized yesterday afternoon. Twice. It was a brief conversation because I was still annoyed.

He texted me at 1:00 this morning and said, “Sara, I’m sorry for the late text… but we need to hang out.”

What a confusing human being.

I worked from 7:30AM to 3:00PM today, then came home and took a nap. When I got up, I used some eyedrops.

I walked into the kitchen.

My roommate started talking to me, then stopped and looked concerned.

He thought I had been in bed all day and that I was crying.

I always make excuses in my head for people. Like maybe he’s just really busy, or maybe he’s just hard to read.

But he might really just be a dick.

A childhood friend who I haven’t seen in at least ten years drunk messaged me on Facebook at 4:00 this morning.  I was asleep, but woke up and saw it.  I’ve never talked to him on Facebook before.  He tried to do one of those video calls.  I told him to go to bed.
